This broom began with a conversation between friends as we chatted and caught up with each other. It was while chatting we found out about the passing of Dolly Parton. We talked about her life, but somewhere along the way, the conversation became about so much more.

It became about kindness. Acceptance. Love.

About having the courage to stand brightly in your own colors while never asking another person to dim theirs.

The Broom of Many Colors was inspired by a friend and the path she has walked, but also by the beautiful reminder Dolly gave the world: there is room at the table for all of us. You do not have to understand another person's journey to offer them kindness. You do not have to walk their path to respect it. And someone else's colors do not take anything away from your own.

Every strand of broomcorn in this piece stands boldly beside the next. Different colors. Different paths. Different stories. Yet woven together, they become something stronger and far more beautiful than any one could have been alone.
