Iron has long been used in both folk practice and ceremonial magick, and is primarily associated with protection. Traditionally, to ward a home folks drive an iron nail into each of the four corners of their house. Alternately, it’s common to form an X with the nails, wrap them with a strand of hair and red twine/embroidery thread, to form a personal protective ward. Their rusting quality makes them perfect for baneful work as well. 

Of course, you may be here because you’re going for a vintage look. These nails are sturdy, perfect for hammering in, and great for achieving a rustic look where a modern looking nail just won’t do.
